Matatane Camp - Babanango Game Reserve

“Fantastisch!!!!”

We ended up staying not at this camp but at the nearby Valley Lodge. A booking mishap gave us a free upgrade to Valley Lodge, which was arranged nicely in advance. I can’t say anything about Matatane Camp itself, but I recommend Valley Lodge to everyone. The staff are fantastic, the food is wonderful, and the facilities are great. The Babanango game reserve (where both Valley Lodge and Matatane Camp are located) is the most beautiful reserve we’ve seen on our trip through South Africa. It has a lion‑king‑like setting and we saw amazing things there, including cheetahs and lions. I recommend everyone go there!

We wanted to try a camping experience. It was very well set up, with a very welcoming and attentive staff. The rain at night hitting something metallic disturbed our sleep.
