Newton Hall

The room was very comfortable and gave a deceptive sense of privacy in a natural setting, but breakfast at The Joiners was disappointing; my husband had eaten at Newton Hall last time and thought it was far superior.

The spot is awesome, but the 'Cosy' Garden Rooms aren’t actually part of the hotel, and we couldn’t use any of the hotel facilities because a wedding was happening. The listing didn’t mention this at all, so it’s very misleading. We had dinner at a pub five minutes away, but the dark, unlit roads at night made us bring a torch. The ravioli was severely undercooked and hard, and there were tons of silverskin onions floating in an otherwise bland broth. We were offered breakfast at the same pub or a 'bag' breakfast, so we skipped it entirely. The grey concrete garden rooms look fairly new, but they’re nothing like what we saw in the listing. At night there was no way to ventilate the room except by opening a door; it was warm and stuffy.

“Lovely venue with delightful staff.”

The staff were brilliant and breakfast was delicious. Nothing could be faulted.

Friendly staff, nice breakfast, lovely rooms in the hall. Zip together double mattress was a bit uncomfortable if you lay on the middle
