This hotel feels luxurious from start to finish, with divine attention to detail; we stayed in a gorgeous suite and enjoyed free activities like a cooking class and a photo shoot where one of us wore traditional Hanfu—fabulous—and we also saw the Hangzhou West Lake Water show, which was amazing!

The hotel sold us a guide that wasn’t a guide at all, nothing like a 5‑star experience; the service was pitiful, so avoid Banyan Tree in China at all costs!!!

The hotel’s postcard‑like setting was very cute, though small; the rooms were simply gorgeous—huge with a bed that could fit five people. Everything looked stunning, but we only stayed briefly. The breakfasts didn’t hit the mark; they seemed like a standard spread from other hotels, but something was off—fresh vegetables ran out during our breakfast and they never replenished them. The staff were very pleasant.

The private villas ensure absolute privacy, while the meticulously maintained gardens and natural materials used in the interior design exude understated elegance. At night, the soft lighting and natural sounds create a soothing atmosphere that calms the mind and body.
