An incredible stay, absolutely gorgeous, and the pre‑stocked fireplace was a real highlight. The hacienda is wonderfully preserved, a great step back in time. The food was mediocre; the breakfast that came with the stay was fine, but we would have preferred to skip the dinner that wasn’t included.

I was welcomed warmly and the historic building was incredibly beautiful, which I enjoyed exploring. My room was very comfortable with everything I needed, and there was an open fire, though I didn’t use it; candlelight all night was lovely. I didn’t have dinner, but breakfast and the service were very good. If you’re lucky enough to see Cotopaxi without cloud cover, there’s a good spot to watch it, and reception can guide you. I would definitely stay here again and wholeheartedly recommend it.

The Hacienda is a gem; it’s a tourist attraction on its own, famously visited by geographer Humboldt in 1801. The chapel is superb, surrounded by trees and gardens, and the views of Cotopaxi are breathtaking.

The place is very pretty, but communication with the staff is poor and the fireplaces never light up.
