If you don’t have a car, avoid Toktogul because the lake is far away; you can take a taxi that drops you at a nature reserve at the end of a dusty road about 2–3 km from the main road, where there’s nobody, nothing, and no shade. The “Toktogul plaji” on Google Maps doesn’t exist; the nearest beach area is 80–100 km away, which I confirmed by calling the local CBT tourist office. The taxi will wait while you swim and then bring you back. Yandex isn’t available, so it wasn’t a good situation for me. The hotel is friendly, very clean, and the three upper rooms are recommended because they share a huge wooden balcony with carpet and sofas and offer a mountain view. The location between the bus stand and the bazaar is ideal and absolutely quiet. I asked for a kettle and was lucky to get one. Thanks again. Information about the kettle and fridge in the room is mostly wrong for this country.
