The location and breakfast were good, but there was a lack of smiles at the restaurant.

I stayed at Hotel Valgranda. The location is great for reaching various hiking trails. The room was a bit noisy because it faced the main road, but it was clean.

“Noisy substitute hotel!!”

I chose this hotel because it was in a quiet, beautiful village with stunning views, and I had planned to see the village and the hotel as the highlight of my trip. Instead, I was moved to a hotel on the main road that was noisy and not worth the money. I never stayed at the original hotel, which would have been so much better, but the hotel I was moved to was supposedly an upgrade. The noise from guests until 1 am/2 am was ridiculous, and the road noise was awful. At 12 am last night music was playing loudly and a TV was blasting! There were no decent views, and when I mentioned the noise I was told “I know!” On the second day I told the male receptionist and he suggested I should have banged on their doors! No apology, no refund, despite not sleeping for two nights, and to make it worse he called after me to pay city tax. The staff in the breakfast room were lovely, and the female receptionists were friendly. The beds were really hard. I did not want to pay more for the spa, and this was the most expensive stay of my trip.

It was closed when we arrived for renovation. They fortunately rebooked us at another hotel, but then we had to change our hiking plans.
