The hotel was conveniently located near the two hikes we wanted, Ravenna Gorge and the Feldbergsteig, but the pillows were terrible – I had to fold my square pillow into quarters and ended up using a couch cushion instead. The cups were tiny plastic ones, and there were no plates, only metal knives and forks.

The breakfast was good, and the coffee was very good. The furnishings were very basic and the windows didn’t close properly.

The price was fair for the number of days we wanted to stay. On the first day, a staff member who worked there came up to us while my husband was showering because of a leak, so we turned off the shower. Then someone knocked at the door again, this time a staff member, who claimed we had been in the bath. We hadn’t been in the bath at all and had taken turns showering; I replied that we had been showering. She insisted it couldn’t be and shouted, “you don’t do that to your guests!” I suggested it might be the shower hose, which was broken and we had to hold it up to get water. We left for a town that day and when we returned the hose had been replaced. The approach was not nice. Also note that there are no mugs in the room to make your own coffee. We were told to buy them at a nearby shop when I asked for mugs. Rooms are cleaned once a week, so for longer stays keep that in mind. Towels are provided every three days. Don’t expect luxury.

The owner kindly sent me a free replacement for my broken computer mouse, and the room was clean. However, the property still shows a major renovation backlog, with everything still from the late seventies, a toothpaste cup made of thin plastic, a bathtub that can only be used as a shower because there's no stopper, and the pool listed in the description hasn't been usable for a few years. The corridors are very dark, and although the price was reasonable, we had already found something better in the area for a slightly higher rate, but there were no vacancies then. I also decided not to book breakfast.

The staff were genuinely friendly, the location was gorgeous, and the view from the room was breathtaking.
