“It was ok”
Its renovation is progressing, and the lactation room is surprisingly good, but breakfast options are missing.
Parking was good, the Wi‑Fi was adequate, but the bed was uncomfortable and the en‑suite was very small.
The check‑in staff weren’t very friendly, but the evening staff and those serving food and drinks were very accommodating, polite, and friendly. The Caribbean food at the festival was good and offered good value compared to the site. The outdoor area was a nice social space that we enjoyed. The rooms were very basic, had no mirror, and needed some TLC. The beds were just about comfortable. Even though the bar looked clean and modern, the rest was “basic.” The rooms had a musty smell and were very warm, even with the fan. We had confirmed early check‑in, but when we arrived at 1 pm our rooms weren’t ready.
“Dirtiest room I’ve ever been in”
The check‑in was handled by someone who looked like a teenager, and there was no bar or restaurant; the room immediately smelled like someone had been chain‑smoking all week, so we cracked the windows and turned on the fan to try to ventilate it. We were staying only for work the next day, paid £80 for the week, and didn’t expect anything special, yet the carpet was filthy, the furniture had holes and mismatched, the walls were damaged, the bathtub was grimy and missing a plug, and the towel we picked up was stained. After spending 15–20 minutes in the room we couldn’t bear to stay; my wife called it a crack‑den and it was awful. We left the keys and explained why we were leaving. We’ve tried to get a refund through the platform but they don’t answer the phone. It would have been better to sleep in your car; I had pictures of the room but didn’t want to stay there a moment longer.
“Not the best place to get a good nights sleep at”
The location was convenient from the city centre and the staff were friendly, yet there was no ramp to the front door—only stairs—and no elevators to the rooms. The room was okay, but the cleanliness and overall décor were below standard. The floors weren’t sound‑proofed, so we heard people above stomping; music played from around 12/1 am until at least 3–4 am, which my partner struggled with, and the bed made a lot of noise even when turning over. Overall it wasn’t the best sleep I’ve had in a hotel.
