Hotel Exel, located in Amstetten's centre, offers a spa area and free private parking. The hotel features rooms with cable TV, minibar, and bathroom with hairdryer. Guests enjoy Austrian and international cuisine in the restaurant and a rich breakfast buffet. Situated halfway between Linz and St. Pölten, it's close to the Wachau region and Melk Abbey, with the A1 motorway just 1.5 km away.

I arrived after midnight and the key‑safe worked fine, so that was convenient. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the bathrooms matched that standard, though the furnishings feel a bit dated. Parking is free, but you have to book it in advance – that wasn’t the case during my earlier visits.

The room was beautiful and roomy with a luxurious bathroom. It was warm and the windows were open, which made the night noisy because of the café/terrace across the street. My car was parked in front of the hotel to charge, and I had to unplug it before 3 pm or I’d be hit with an extra €10.71 per hour – that would have added up to €120.00 for a full charge! All charging points in Amstetten are set up to impose a “fine” if you keep charging for too long, and that fine doesn’t drop until you’re finished. The chargers aren’t run by the hotel, but it would be helpful if they warned you about this.
