It was one of the most welcoming places I visited during my travels in Sri Lanka. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, but the real highlight was the hospitality. Thisal even rode me on his motorbike to see some local sights and later took me to the bus station. He made sure I found an ATM, had everything I needed, and personally ensured I boarded the right bus before leaving me. That kind of genuine care and hospitality is unforgettable. A wonderful experience.

The family is very accommodating and the food is exceptional, going above and beyond to share many different dishes. After 21 days of exploring, I tried new food here. The locals are knowledgeable and helpful, well known and trusted as Sri Lankans are.

They were very kind, offered us a welcome drink on arrival, an incredibly generous dinner, and a fabulous breakfast. The lady and her nephew provided home‑like hospitality. They are very gentle and humble, deserving of high praise, and they’re close to the attractions.

The facility and room were simple but clean and had everything needed for a short stay. The location was great for visiting the Polonnawrua archaeological site (5 minutes on foot) and was right next to the bus stop. What makes it special is the welcome and kindness of Thisal and the grandmother, who make you feel at home. They were available to give any information (how to visit the site, bike rentals, bus directions). Additionally, the place offers dinner upon request; I believe it’s the best meal of the trip, prepared directly by the grandmother: generous portions and an unforgettable curry rice. The breakfast the next morning was equally good. Highly recommended for a night in Polonnawrua.
