The room had sufficient cooling and the blinds blocked out sunlight; the owner organized a tuk‑tuk tour for us. There was no hot water for the majority of the stay. When I approached the host he said it was a solar system and because it was cloudy there wouldn’t be any hot water, which is an absolute joke considering we are paying to use the amenities and utilities. The owner initially said there was nothing we could do about it. When I asked how he would feel if he spent good money staying at a highly rated establishment that refused to give patrons hot water, a basic essential, he finally rectified it for the last day and the water was slightly lukewarm but only lasted a few minutes, to which he said I needed to give him 15 minutes notice for a shower. That’s a bit much for a 9.2 rating. No compensation was offered, only that I could leave early. I run a holiday home and must say I was appalled. Even when I left he still charged me the full price and had the audacity to report that I was a no‑show so I couldn’t leave a review, to which I may have been more generous with my ratings. During the night you can barely sleep as the walls are so thin you can hear the neighbour’s dog barking, or failing that, a train passing that shakes the whole house while honking its horn up until 11 pm every 20 minutes and 5‑6 am early in the morning. If you are deaf you would probably be fine with that. The room itself didn’t have a quilt or blanket so my partner was so cold the whole night. When requested they gave us another drop sheet, which was something but not a fix. Either be super cold or hot. The English Breakfast was cute but they assumed we wanted our eggs runny, which were basically served raw. The drinks they gave us were cute but tasted like a mouthful of sugar and were awful. A simple way to fix this is to perhaps ask simple questions like how do you want eggs. The breakfast itself was far from an English breakfast: 6 mini packaged sausages, 2 eggs, and 8 pieces of toast. Who even eats 8 pieces of toast?
