Shogetsu Grand Hotel features indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, a sauna, and Western/Japanese-style rooms with gorge views. Located in Jozankei's hot-spring district, the hotel offers air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and en-suite bathrooms. Traditional multi-course dinners and Japanese set breakfasts are served. The hotel is 50 minutes from JR Sapporo Train Station and 30 minutes from Sapporo International Ski Resort.

The 2021 renovation really shows in the charm and beautiful decor, making the stay truly outstanding for the price paid for the room, dinner, and breakfast with all the lounge drinks and treats. If you’re thinking about an Onsen visit, it’s definitely worth it. The only downside was the pillows, which were very small; the hotel should offer a more deluxe Queen‑size option.

The hotel had a nice renovation, the location was easy to find, and the staff were very polite and helpful, especially the serving lady at dinner; the food was great. The onsen opens later than expected and closes at 10 am.

The food was delicious and refined, but the room was too old.

The location is great, but the onsen area lacks towels, so we had to bring one from the room, and the skin/body care items are limited. After hiking, the towels that come from the onsen are wet and there’s no clean dry towel available. There’s also no security at the onsen, especially the outdoor part, which feels unsafe. The room’s ventilation is weak and the aircon doesn’t cool enough. Demanding us to have breakfast at 7 am is unreasonable for a holiday stay, and the shuttle bus isn’t free. The dinner was very sumptuous, and although the service staff were limited, they worked hard to deliver good service.
