Just before heading to the Kumano Kodo trail, I booked a single night here because the price was cheap, the value for money was high, and the station was not far away—plus the whole street is full of restaurants, and the first floor of the guesthouse doubles as a restaurant. The layout is a bit odd: we were in a room closer to the bathroom, but if we’d chosen the one nearer the shower and kitchen, the noise might have been worse. We stayed in a 2–3 person tatami room, which is quite spacious for two people and even has a small fridge. There’s a safety helmet in the room and a seismic evacuation route. The only downside is that the Japanese-style sliding door in the room can’t be locked, so if that matters to you, keep it in mind.

It’s close to the train station and the owners are super nice. The place was a little noisy; you could hear traffic and people from the street, plus sounds from inside the house.
