Finding The B and B was straightforward on the main road out of Valognes, and the room was huge, comfy, and came with a kitchenette and everything needed for self‑catering; Mme Varette and her husband were charming and helpful with local tips. Breakfast was tasty and served in a very elegant room. The whole building stayed quiet, and parking on the main road was safe and convenient. It’s a perfect stop if you’re heading to or from Cherbourg, and it’s a good base for exploring the western D‑Day landing beaches, which are just a few miles east along the coast. The only downside was that St Floxel was very quiet and seemed to have no restaurants, probably because the holiday season was ending; Valogne is only 4 miles away and has two grocery stores, so self‑catering works well.
