“こんなもんかな?”
The futons were clean. It would be nice to have sandals in the shared space, the fire extinguisher was unusable, and the automatic fire alarm is broken (not sure if that’s a regulatory exemption).

I was fine with the personal space and didn’t have to worry about anything, which was good. The snoring was loud and I couldn’t sleep.

Staying here was fine, and the bath was nearby and cheap, so it worked well for a solo trip. The other guest’s snoring was loud and I couldn’t sleep; if that happened, a private room would be better.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I booked what I thought was a private room, but it turned out to be a shared room with open beds and no privacy. I chose a bunk with a blind for some privacy; luckily there was no one above me, though the noise from opening and closing the blinds bothered me. The facilities are a bit old but still comfortable. The wooden sliding doors can be disruptive when people come in and out, which is expected in older Japanese homes. A single shared washroom and bath can be tricky if there are more guests.
