“En veranda mot havet vid en ´egen´ underbar strand - du behöver inte drömma, kom hit!”
A gorgeous spot with a park that has huge potential, especially now that renovations are underway. The bungalow/villa by the sea is stunningly beautiful, spacious, and has a lovely veranda where you can hear the waves crashing. If the photos look amazing, the real place is even better. Tiwi Beach is by far the most beautiful beach compared to Diani, Galu, Bofa (Kilifi) that we’ve visited along Kenya’s coast. It’s a “private” beach with unparalleled privacy, letting you relax on the sand and in the water without any intrusive beach boys, except for a fisherman or local who happily shows and talks about Tiwi. Perfect for newlyweds or anyone craving solitude. The restaurant faces the sea nicely, and the staff dimmed the music so we could enjoy the sounds of the Indian Ocean. The resort’s grounds are large but isolated, with no other hotels, restaurants, or shops nearby, which gave me a fleeting sense of insecurity (my partner didn’t feel that way). However, the area is heavily guarded with many security guards, so it felt safe. Because of the renovations, there were few guests, which explains why the restaurant’s menu was limited (understandable) and some items ran out during the day, but there was always a fantastic freshly caught fish dish… what else could you ask for? They had beer, but no wine, which the restaurant should have offered. So we bought the drinks and snacks we wanted in Ukunda (the villa’s fridge). It was also hard to get an Uber or similar taxi through Safaricom to go to Ukunda or a restaurant in Diani, but the hotel had good contacts for private taxi service, just a bit pricier.
