The owners were extremely welcoming, and the room felt spacious, well furnished, and spotless. Breakfast was a classic continental spread with a great selection of meats and cheeses, and the bread rolls were especially tasty. Dinner was served from Wednesday to Saturday; the menu wasn’t huge, but the dishes were cooked to perfection and presented nicely, so we ate there every night it was open. Other guesthouses in the village were also open on nights when the restaurant closed, though reservations are advisable, and all of them were very good. The hotel sits in a lovely valley, offering excellent walking for those reasonably fit and pleasant strolls for those with limited fitness. A Kronos card from the hotel gave us free train and bus travel, which we used to take the train from Schluchsee/Aha to Freiberg (you need ID such as a passport or photo driving licence). Nothing else to add.
