The staff were truly friendly and the facilities were excellent. The food was very special, which can be an issue if you’re not a big fan of fish.

We really liked the onsen, dinner, and breakfast. Tojoo is magnificent, and the private onsen is very interesting. It’s a bit far from the train station on foot; you’re better off taking a taxi because it’s a steep uphill walk.

I’ve visited 32 countries, but I’ve never been treated so nicely. I wanted to serve them after they served me! Nothing else. Such a magical, cultural experience unlike any place I’ve been.

The room service was good, and the outdoor hot spring pool was pretty beautiful—snow scenery would have made it even more stunning. The soundproofing was poor, especially on the third floor next to the kitchen; I was woken by work noises early in the morning. The private soaking tub lacked anti‑slip features, so stepping onto it caused me to slip and hit my knee and calf; fortunately, no fractures, but it was quite painful. There was no shuttle service from the hotel.
