“A memorable stay in the jungle.”
A hidden gem! This tiny, simple lodge is perfect for those who want to connect with nature and experience personal Sri‑Lankan hospitality. My wife and I stayed there for two nights and loved it. The location is amazing— the property sits in a sparsely populated area next to the National Park, so you feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle. Our room was literally meters from a beautiful lake that attracts many birds, peacocks, and a few monkeys. Early in the morning you can hear the jungle waking up with all its intensity—such a lovely experience. I had a nice swim at the lake, and the water was pleasant. Roshani, the young owner, was super friendly and helpful. She treated us like guests at a friend’s place instead of a hotel. When my wife felt ill with the flu, Roshani sent her husband to buy her medicine and was always checking on her. She arranged a tuk‑tuk to the National Park and a Jeep ride inside the park. Her homemade food was delicious—among the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. If you stay here, I highly recommend the lake safari. Roshani arranged it for us and it was super affordable. A local fisherman in a canoe picked us up early in the morning and took us for an hour and a half ride around the lake. We saw many types of birds, and while we didn’t see any wild elephants, they told us it’s not uncommon to spot them bathing. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay, but keep in mind this is a very simple, austere lodge. There’s no wifi or luxury of any kind, but that’s kind of the point! Everything was great!
