“Cheap deal in central Romblon for few days”

The DRA Guesthouse sits right in the center of Romblon, so everything is nearby. It’s very clean, offers a comfortable bed and a desk, and the rooms are a decent size—all at a low price, a good deal for a few days. The downside is there was no hot water, the weather heater was broken, no toilet paper (I had to buy it), no drinkable water in the room, no fridge, and the building has 3 or 4 floors (depending on where your room is) with no elevator.

I booked a one‑night stay after my ship docked, but when I got to the hotel at 3am there was no staff, even though I’d messaged the manager beforehand. I scoured the place and the Booking chat, but nobody appeared. I finally found an open room, which smelled heavily of tobacco, had used clothes on the floor, and the bed was sheetless. With no other option I checked in, but felt unsafe, so I bolted the door and placed a table in front of it. About two hours later I woke up to find the door unlocked and the table had been moved. I left feeling extremely insecure, and I’m warning others—especially solo female travelers—that this place is not safe.
