The owner was warm and friendly, speaking German or English as you wished, playing music from your homeland during the fantastic breakfast, offering everything for free (walking sticks, etc.) and knowing exactly what the weather would be. The beds were good and the breakfast great. I didn’t notice any shortcomings, though I expected a basic kitchen and shower setup.

The bus stop is very close, the owner speaks excellent English and is very eager to share all nearby information in detail, provides delicious breakfast, and runs the place with a philosophy of giving travelers wonderful memories, which is different from typical operators.

I planned a three‑night, four‑day solo trip to Oku‑Nikko and chose this dormitory because of its price range and high reviews. As the reviews said, it turned out to be a very good trip. Owner Makoto is very friendly and hospitable, welcoming guests of any nationality, religion, or gender. The sweet potato breakfast, each with a different seasoning but all highlighting the sweet potato flavor, was tasty and filling, perfect before a walk. I liked the good view near Kegon Falls. Most shops in Oku‑Nikko close by evening, but Makoto recommended affordable places that stay open at night, satisfying my culinary interests. I’ll stay here again when I visit Oku‑Nikko and also to eat roasted sweet potatoes.
