Check‑in was easy, the bed was comfortable, the location was good, and parking was convenient—great value for a night. Breakfast was good. The only issue was that on Saturday at 19:45 the whole house was dark and the restaurant was closed.

It’s not far from Ellwangen and easy to drive; the breakfast was very good, and the accommodation is passable for the price with breakfast included, but there’s a step up into the bathroom that’s a problem for people with mobility issues, and the bathroom is very small, only suitable for slim people.

The building itself is quite appealing, and the location near the train station is convenient, especially since we were visiting the Landesgartenschau in Ellwangen; we were pleased with the smooth check‑in, the breakfast was good and always freshly replenished, and the entire staff was exceptionally friendly.

The charm of a traditional hotel is exactly what you get, but the hotel was closed when we arrived—something not mentioned on Booking—though the manager came quickly after our call; the VMC in the bathroom was noisy.

The location could have been quiet, but the dogs were barking, and the rooms had acceptable cleaning; we arrived at 17:00 and nobody knew about my reservation or spoke any English, only German; I eventually realized I had to wait until 20:00 to speak with someone who could tell me if a room was available; I decided to leave, but everything resolved itself and rooms were available. Within five minutes the owner appeared, saw we had a dog, and took the keys to two rooms from us, telling us to move to other rooms on the upper floor, in the loft; the room temperature was indescribable—impossible to keep cool; opening the window was useless and only let in the smell from the neighboring stable and the constant barking of dogs; the furnishings were very dated; I also had to pay an 8‑Euro cleaning surcharge for the dog, even though they should have given me 8 euros to wash it; I can’t judge the restaurant because I didn’t understand why it was closed that evening, but it was probably better that way.
