I had a great underground experience, but the pillows were very ordinary.

The atmosphere in the common rooms and foyer was amazing and the staff seemed nice, but they didn’t care to resolve their mistake in the rooms and offered no apologies. We disliked a lot about the stay: 1. Umbrellas were hooked above the beds, catching falling dirt and rocks from above ground, keeping us up all night and making us worry about them falling on us while we lay in bed. 2. They got our booking wrong; we had booked a room that could fit a family of 5 (2 double beds and 1 Queen) but received a bedroom that sleeps 4 (2 single and 1 Queen), forcing three people into a Queen bed. When I asked to move a mattress from another vacant room, they said no and offered either a refund or booking the next‑door room for an extra $180, with no apologies or attempt to fix the mix‑up. We would have changed rooms but it was too late at night and the kids were tired after a long drive. 3. The Wi‑Fi was hit or miss because we were further underground; staff warned us this would happen. 4. They have a massive DVD collection in the foyer; we spent ages looking through them with the kids, but the DVD player didn’t work. 5. The front foyer door wouldn’t open easily; we arrived after reception closed and had a key to enter. There was a trick to opening it, and luckily another lady arrived at the same time and eventually got it open after a few minutes.

What an unique and incredible experience! I brought my teenagers on our outback adventure and they loved every minute, especially the cool feeling of sleeping underground. Nothing was lacking; everything was great.
