Emeralda Ninh Binh Resort and Spa, situated on the edge of Van Long Nature Reserve, offers villa-style rooms with free internet. The resort features landscaped gardens, a spa, three swimming pools, and two restaurants. Rooms have natural materials, large windows, and a balcony. The resort is 30 minutes from Tam Coc-Bich Dong caves and 30 km from Cuc Phuong National Park.

We stayed for three nights and enjoyed it a lot overall. Low season meant the resort was quiet and mostly empty, which added to the relaxation. The setting felt more like a green village than a hotel, with cottages and houses surrounded by greenery, water lilies, and pools—beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Service was excellent; requests were handled immediately. Laundry was efficient, with same‑day pickup. The resort sits very close to the Van Long boat pier; we rented bicycles from there and it was great. The center of Ninh Binh is about 20‑25 minutes away, and a taxi to town and back cost about 500,000 VND. Breakfast was quite rich with a good selection. The mattress was too soft and caused some back pain. The resort is a bit old and not very modern. The room had a strong cinnamon air‑freshener that lingered for a whole day; a lighter scent or none would be better. The restaurant was fine but nothing special.

The resort is calm and relaxing, the pool is great, and breakfast offers many options. Everything was great.

We were disappointed that housekeeping left only two 500 ml water bottles for two adults and a child, and asking for more felt like asking for a favor, though the property itself was clean and well maintained. The check‑in process and any help we needed in the room were handled poorly by the staff.
