The staff were delightful and made our transition to Kyoto an amazing experience; this hotel feels family‑run, and their Japanese hospitality went above and beyond. Talking with the gentleman at check‑in was one of the highlights of our trip because he spoke English so well. The only downside was that we only stayed there two nights.

The facilities and room were acceptable, yet dealing with the staff was the worst experience I've had in 35 years of traveling; I find it unbelievable—and pathetic—that I could pay $400 a night for a room at the hotel and the receptionist still couldn't arrange a taxi for us. If you can't fulfill such a basic tourist request, you should shut down.

The location is calm and fairly convenient, and having a reception is appreciated, but the lack of breakfast is a disappointment.
