The service was fantastic.

The room was spotless and smelled fresh, with a good bed and linens, plenty of hot water, and strong shower pressure. Getting to the motel was straightforward, and we appreciated the keypad entry over a key or card. It could be a solid basic room if a luggage surface and a few minor fixes were added. On the downside, there was no storage for suitcases, the blinds to the dark backyard were broken and offered no privacy, so we had to hang toilet paper over the gaps; the toilet paper dispenser, bathtub faucet, and shower bar for facecloths were all hanging off the wall. The toilet was EXTRA TALL and uncomfortable. These issues are easy to fix. The price was reasonable for what was offered, but the room needs attention.

The location was convenient as a launching pad for my trip the next day to Ottawa, Canada. The price was very low. I always select only rooms rated "7 Good" or better, as this one was. I believed I'd be safe getting a low-cost room based on the favorable reviews. This was not the case, unfortunately. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, this concludes my ability to comment favorably. I telephoned to advise I'd be a late arrival, perhaps 11pm, or even 11:30. I was told that was NOT OK, that a late fee would apply and nothing later than 11:30 could be accommodated. I then adjusted my plans to drive straight there without stopping for dinner to make sure I was not a late arrival. I managed to keep my ETA at before 10pm. However, around 9:00 pm, I received a text from Nest Inn detailing all I needed to do for check-in. It told me my room number was 12, how to get into the room, the code to lock and unlock the door, the Wi-Fi information, etc. So I was puzzled at being threatened with a late fee to come after 11:00 given they did not need to meet with me for check-in at all. Finding my room, I struggled a little with the door lock. Called the manager, was talked to like I'm a dummy, but figured out how to get the door to function without making him come to the door and assist. All seemed fine until I used the bathroom. Very clean bathroom, but there was no water flowing into the toilet. I was unable to turn the water on myself. Also, the television would not work, I think it just needed remote batteries replaced. It was a late arrival for a 1-night stay, so I just went to bed without complaining about either of these issues. Having annoyed the manager struggling to get the door locked already that night, I didn't welcome talking to him again about more room issues that evening. They also didn't provide wash cloths as most other hotels do. So upon check out, I wanted to advise regarding the 3 issues I had with room 12 to make sure they were corrected for the next guest. Instead of an apology for my inconveniences, this enraged the manager. He sent me hateful text messages and repeatedly telephoned me to yell at me. I didn't take his calls, so got two angry voicemails. I had to block his number and report his texts as spam to shut his tirade against me down
