Thanks to Gaskara Guesthouse and Maroshi Island for an unforgettable experience! The rooms are simple yet well-equipped, and the bathroom is spacious. Room service isn’t available, but breakfast is tasty, offering continental, American, or a local traditional option, with some ingredients sourced from fresh produce grown right in front of the guesthouse—a unique touch. Maroshi Island is peaceful and non‑touristy, with about 500 residents. The guesthouse is the only lodging, and my mother and I were the only tourists. There are no bars or cafés, but three small markets exist, and you can also dine at the guesthouse. A few things to note: there isn’t a private beach, so long swimwear and covering up during the day is recommended. The beaches and palm areas have some litter due to limited maintenance, but the palm‑tree beach is stunning and a great snorkeling spot where the vibrant underwater life was the trip’s highlight. A sign at reception mentions fines for public displays of affection, though it’s unclear how strictly this is enforced; they said it’s fine if you’re alone on the beach. Additionally, there’s a daily tax of $6 per person and a service fee to keep in mind. The island feels like a secluded, almost deserted paradise, even quieter during Ramadan, adding to the calm atmosphere. Maazin showed us around, sharing fascinating stories, including the history of an ancient tree over 400 years old. The staff were incredibly helpful in arranging transport and made us feel very comfortable and welcome throughout our stay. If you’re traveling on a budget and want a serene escape without hustle and bustle, this place is perfect.

Our recent 3‑night stay at Gaskara Guest House in Shaviyani Maroshi proved to be a commendable choice for travelers seeking solid value. From the start, the comfort level of the accommodations stood out. The rooms were cozy and came with enough amenities to meet our needs, ensuring a restful stay. The staff were particularly welcoming and helpful, eager to assist with any questions, which made the experience even smoother. Facilities were reasonable and well‑maintained, providing everything needed for comfort without extra frills, focusing on good value. The location added to the appeal, especially with the nearby beach—a highlight of our visit. The beach was impeccably clean, with pristine sands and crystal‑clear waters ideal for relaxation and leisure activities. The streets around the guest house were spotless, reflecting the local community’s commitment to cleanliness and environmental care, enhancing our walks around the area. The only downside was that the guest house could add authentic Maldivian food to its restaurant menu.

A heavenly island with white beaches and incredibly hospitable locals, untouched by civilization so you can feel like the real Maldives. The island is more than 200 km from Male, so you can enjoy a quiet break without tourist crowds. Getting there is easy: 1. A speedboat from Male to Funadhoo takes 4 hours, then a ferry to Maroshi (about $80); 2. A flight with Maldivian Airlines from Male to Kulhudhuffushi or Funadhoo, then a ferry to Maroshi (around $120). The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, arranging various tours such as reef snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, and a sandbank excursion. We’re thrilled with this place and will definitely return someday. ❤️❤️❤️
