A cozy hotel tucked away in a quiet spot, just a 5‑10 minute walk to the beach. The host was very friendly, handed me an extension cord so I could move my desk to the window and work there, and even treated me to some coconuts. Laundry is inexpensive, bottled water is available, and I booked a taxi to the airport right there. The terrace kitchen lets you whip up breakfast, and you can climb up to the roof. While I was staying, the owners built an extra stair from the street straight to the terrace, so the courtyard was a bit raked, but once the stair is finished the yard should look nice again. My room was very spacious, with a good air‑conditioner and a window overlooking the jungle—everything matched the photos. The only downside was the towel that came with my room; it was synthetic and didn’t absorb water well, just spreading it around. When they swapped it for a new one it was a proper cotton towel. Also, if I left food on the table, little ants would come, but that’s pretty common around Sri Lanka, and they didn’t show up when there was no food.
