“ubytování selhalo”

The place is nice, by the river, but we couldn’t get inside. No one answered the phone, even the other number listed for the accommodation didn’t work. Messages and emails via Booking didn’t help; only a few guests responded. We would have just needed a message with the room number and key pickup code. I spent an hour and a half looking for a code or some hint, like in an escape game, and then we had to leave with the kids. After an hour a message from the owner said he was abroad. The next day he called and apologized, saying Booking was messing up. He claimed they probably didn’t even have a free room. Most of the money was refunded, but the horrible experience remains.

The room was cozy and spotless, the bathroom looked nice, and the forest setting was absolutely beautiful. On the downside, the house is really echoey – we could hear a bunch of stomping kids all day – and the kitchen was shared with other guests, something that hadn’t been mentioned beforehand. To make matters worse, the water was a nightmare over the weekend; sometimes it was just cold, sometimes there was none at all, and I never even saw the owner.

Communication was practically non‑existent and the place feels stuck out in the middle of nowhere with nothing around. The water was ice‑cold, not even good enough for a quick shower, and there was a faint mildew smell in the entrance area. All in all, not a pleasant stay.

“Tamsu, viskas sena, nejauku. Kaina neatitiko realybės!”

The only thing that worked for me was the quiet location. The room had tiny windows, the bathroom was dark and uncomfortable, and the shared kitchen was a hassle – plus there was no internet. The common area was left with the host’s shoes and other stuff, looking more like a hunter’s cabin than a guestroom, and the whole setup just didn’t match the price we paid.
