“The hotel is fine, the way to treat guests isn’t”
The hotel itself is fine, but we were quite disappointed with how we were treated during our stay. About a month before arrival, we messaged the hotel asking about the price of a hot‑air balloon flight and were told €175 per person. Later we booked the same experience on Viator for €130 per person. At check‑in, the receptionist asked if we’d already booked the flight; when we said yes, he told us we had been “scammed” and that he could have arranged it for €80 per person. His tone was dismissive and condescending, making the situation very uncomfortable. We explained that we had contacted the hotel through chat a month earlier and had been quoted €175, not €80. He insisted the message was an automatic reply, even though it was a direct response. The conversation became unnecessarily confrontational, as he seemed determined to insist he was right instead of simply acknowledging the discrepancy. Unfortunately, the balloon flight was cancelled that same day because of strong winds. We asked if it could be arranged the next day, but he said he could no longer offer €80 because the price was “volatile”. The next day we spoke to another staff member who was much more pleasant and professional and appreciated their willingness to help, but the earlier encounter had already left us feeling very uncomfortable. Our main issue isn’t the price difference; it’s how the situation was handled. We simply relied on the information the hotel gave us and did not appreciate being told we had been “scammed” or being spoken to in such a dismissive manner.
