Received confirmation for our stay at Split Mountain Motel in Vernal, UT. However, when we arrived, the motel was being remodeled and not open for business. We were left scrambling for a place to stay. Much to our dismay our credit card was charged for $208. Booking. com is working to fix the mess up. Here's hoping

I booked this motel, only to find it closed for remodeling; they still took my money and I had nowhere to stay, which feels like a scam. I wish they had simply announced that the motel was closed and unavailable.

I was disappointed that the property had shut down in January 2026 yet remained listed in May 2026, leaving me stranded in a small town at night with almost no options—never again!

I made a reservation, but when I arrived the place was closed, they didn’t answer my calls, and I was left stranded that night without access, forcing me to find another hotel at that hour.

The site confirmed my booking even though the hotel was under renovation and not accepting guests; I was never there, yet the site insisted I pay a cancellation fee, and no room was available—service was awful. I’ve stayed at the Split Mountain Hotel many times before and it was always clean and decent, not fancy but fine.
