The hostel’s kitchen was amazing, stocked with a stove, fridge, air fryer, toaster, and kettle. I slept in a comfy bed that had a TV in the room, and the family room off the kitchen had a large TV too. Two shared bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot, with soaps and shampoos provided. We rode bicycles, and the hostel offered bike storage. Nothing else to complain about.

The surrounding location was very good although Dalwhinnie itself is unremarkable. Breakfast was BYO. Kitchen facilities were satisfactory. This is a hostel so I wasn't expecting en suite facilities. But both were located on a different floor. One had a shower + toilet and, as the shower was not contained, there was lot of water on the floor. Very expensive for a hostel.

I liked how well‑equipped the kitchen was and that we managed to get our own room because the hostel wasn’t full. The landlord was very friendly and handed us a charger when we forgot ours. The location was very nice and quiet. If you’re hoping for a restaurant in the evening, you’ll need to drive to the next city, about a 15‑minute drive, but we found good food there. Bring some food with you just in case.

The place was super welcoming, accommodating and friendly; it was great to see some of the original school features still intact. The rooms were well maintained, the beds colorful and comfortable, and there was storage under the bunk beds if needed. It was perfect for our needs.
