“Best Beach Cottage in El Nido with Incredible View”
I was doubtful after seeing so many bad comments, but an hour after checking in I booked two extra nights because everything was perfect. The bed was ample, the TV was huge and could face the bed, the bathroom was roomy with hot water, the AC worked, and the balcony offered a priceless view. Wifi was Starlink and flawless, and the highlight was swimming at what I’d say is El Nido’s best public beach, crystal clear and easy to reach. The beach has a line of eateries from McDonald’s at the entrance to Vanilla Beach, open 24/7, and Las Cabanas resort where I ate ceviche (kilawin) almost daily. Don’t miss J83 restaurant for the best sunset view and the best pizzas and calzones. The cottage is a 10‑minute walk to the zipline platform. I stayed in the low season, so the usual noise complaints were absent. The sari‑sari store next to the cottage is handy for cheap ice cream, soda, or beer. I made friends with locals who made the stay memorable. For the price, it’s a real gem, and you can see my profile for the number of places I’ve reviewed. The only issue was the “rats” or mice that actually look like small squirrels running on the ceiling and walls; you’ll see them if you pass Las Cabanas in the morning or late afternoon toward Dolarog Resort. They’re quiet all day, only making noise between 7‑8 pm after sunset. There are two cottages; I was lucky to get the side with no garbage and an unobstructed view. The other had old stuff—broom, containers, cleaning tools—under the hut, making it a storage area for random items, and its view was partially blocked by the sari‑sari store, so I’d stay in my hut if I return. The bathroom starts smelling weird after three days; they need a full clean or new mosquito screens in the windows to improve airflow. The sink faucet is clogged and needs cleaning.
