A charming rural hotel in a very quiet village; there are no restaurants in town, but a mountain refuge a few minutes away offers stunning views and impressive food.

Il Riccio e il Gufo is a real gem in a tiny village of only a few residents. We found the location fantastic because it’s surrounded by nature and just a few kilometres from the Slovenian border. Getting there involves driving up a very pretty winding road. We stayed in the “camera il gufo,” which is huge and also has a sauna (extra charge) that we didn’t use. At night it’s cool, the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is new with all the comforts. Mr. Davide welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home. We had breakfast with another couple of guests while he brewed a good moka coffee. He told us a bit about the area and gave advice for future visits. It’s definitely a place I recommend and would love to return with friends.

The spot is perfect for anyone looking for a bit of quiet; the manager is incredibly kind and helpful, and the breakfast is excellent. It’s a little out of the way, but that depends on what you’re after.
