The location is great, just a short walk from Plaza mall, but the safe and the air conditioner weren’t working properly.

The place is close to a number of shopping outlets, yet there was no hot water and the TV channels were disappointing, offered very little and the screen was not clear.

I asked for an early check‑in and was surprised when they first had to verify if a room was available, expecting it to already be reserved. I ordered dinner at 18h45, but it wasn’t ready until about 20h30. When I arrived at the café on the first floor, the till was unmanned, so I had to ask a food preparer where to place my order. Around 20h25 I went down to check if the diner was ready; the lady at the till was helpful and noticed a tray of food at the bar counter, which turned out to be my order. The food was still warm. I had ordered the Royale platter, described as a piece of beef kebab, some breast pieces and wings. The beef piece turned out to be a recycled pork that was hard and not edible; the crumbled breast pieces were not very fresh but passable; the wings were also not very fresh. The plate had mashed potatoes instead of the promised fries. The chocolate cake was fine. It wasn’t my first stay, but it was really disappointing. The air con could not reach 18 °C and the door on the left side of the work desk was broken. The desk lamp didn’t work either. In the morning, after 08h00, the cleaning lady knocked on my room and asked when I would be out. I told her between 09h30 and 10h00, but she proceeded to enter the room to inspect the bathroom while asking if I had dirty towels. I was horrified because I was in my underwear and had not expected that. My room was 522, I checked in on Thursday 1st Oct and left on 2nd Oct. I have stayed with City Lodge more than six times and I’m not sure if I want a repeat of the same situation. It seemed busy, but there is no excuse for a dinner taking over 1h49 minutes and the housekeeping behavior.
