The building feels old overall, but the room was spacious and the staff were courteous; the hot spring seemed good. The breakfast didn’t satisfy me much, and the towels were rough, with a second set costing extra, which felt stingy.

The bath was spacious and the spring water’s temperature was perfect, letting me soak for a long time; the alkaline water felt gentle on my skin. However, dinner portions were excessive and the seasoning didn’t suit my palate, the Japanese‑style room lacked a sofa making it uncomfortable for my knee problems, the place needs a refresh, and the TV was too small – a screen over 50 inches would be better.

The bath was great, but the river view from the room looked nothing like the photos. I wanted to play table tennis, yet the air‑conditioning was installed after the fact so it was sweltering, and I couldn’t find any racketball equipment. The worst part was that the G was dead.

The hot spring was by far the highlight; despite the building’s age, the cleaning was meticulous and left a good impression, and although there weren’t many guests, it was perfect for a relaxed stay that felt like stepping back into the Showa era. Still, I worry the onsen town might keep declining.
