The old fashioned hotel feel, friendly hostess, comfortable bed, good shower, fire lit in the lounge, location to ferry (less than 1hour). What's not to like 😊

This vintage hotel is fascinating, with a rich history and great ambience, very comfortable yet still full of character from yesteryear; the welcome, the warmth of the lounge fire, and the friendly house cat were nice touches. The hosts were great and accommodating, sharing their experiences with the hotel’s ongoing restoration and happily extending our stay for extra family members. No issues.

The old building is tidy and the hosts are considerate.

The grand old hotel exudes old‑world charm, with resident cats that love a good pat and a shared lounge area that offers a pool table and fireplace for mingling or a chance to keep to yourself. The downside is that the windows are single‑glazed, so if you’re on the front side of the building, the traffic on State Highway One is loud and constant, and freight trains thunder through on the railway line beside the highway—bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
