“A delightfully divine experience.”

We celebrated my birthday weekend there, and the staff surprised us with a birthday foil on the door and a lovely bottle of wine in the room! The spot next to the city park and lake at the edge of downtown was perfect, walking distance to cafés, restaurants, shops, the lakefront and cultural district. The room was huge, clean, comfortable, and the king bed was MASSIVE! We went to the restaurant for happy‑hour oysters and I was extremely pleased with the quality of the Fanny Bay oysters and the raw‑bar staff’s prep skills. Their seafood cold chain is on point and the shucks were impeccably clean! 10/10 would go again. The only thing I’d suggest is adding interpretation panels below the interesting historical photos of rowing teams, passenger vessels and lake structures on the hallway walls so guests could learn what and who they’re looking at—maybe a partnership with the heritage center or UBCO history students could make that happen.

“I would not stay there again.”

On August 31, a lovely lady at the check‑in desk was very pleasant and helpful. The rest of the staff never acknowledged me. The beds were well used. The location was noisy with lots of homelessness. My room was not very clean. There was some substance below the toilet tissue dispensers that looked quite suspicious, and the pictures certainly didn’t reflect what the rooms actually look like. It was kind of gross, to be honest.

The room was clean. It was hard to get a hold of staff, and the restaurant was very understaffed.

“I would stay again!”

The hotel was close to the beach, and we asked for a room at the back to avoid highway noise. I was charged for an early check‑in of an hour.

“Overall I’d definitely stay here again. The room was absolutely gorgeous.”

I loved the location—right across from the park and boardwalk, just a 5‑minute walk to all the restaurants and shops. We had about 20 tiny ants in our bathroom and in front of the kitchenette. It didn’t really bother me, but someone who’s scared of bugs might. I didn’t tell front desk and didn’t hear anything further.
