The hotel sits in a great spot for easy connections to the airport or city routes, and the breakfast was good. I didn’t expect any local eats, but that’s not a problem.
“Very average”
The place isn’t bad, but it’s definitely overpriced. The carpets were filthy, the room never got made up even though I left a sign out the whole day, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly, and it was very noisy with a high‑pitched squeal when refilling.
The location is great between the airport and the old town. The bed was a bit small. The locker room and shower tiles were not great.
The public transport is excellent – a bus stop is right in front of the hotel and buses run very frequently. The breakfast is generous and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bed is very comfortable and the mattress is in great condition. Unfortunately, there are a lot of stairs from the street to the hotel and the elevator isn’t usable in that section, so carrying luggage in and out was terrible and even without luggage it was still exhausting every time I entered the hotel. The rooms have a lot of echo: constant knocking from the floor, conversations from the neighbor, and toilet sounds from above. There is no refrigerator, so I had no cooling options. The bathroom is practically unusable – I could only open and close the door by sliding it against the wall. There is virtually no usable chair in the room; the only office chair we had was a high‑back, arm‑less rolling chair that I couldn’t use as a normal chair (I could only sit on the edge of the bathtub to put on my shoes, etc.). There is no toilet paper in the room or in the building’s public restrooms, which made me feel restrained and very uncomfortable. The window couldn’t be opened, even though we were on the third floor.
“Comfortable and great location. Short bus ride into central Edinburgh.”
The property was very convenient for the airport and getting into the centre of Edinburgh. The room was comfortable, and the restaurant facilities were great; the buffet breakfast was amazing. On our first night the fire alarm went off, and it was unclear if we had to evacuate because no announcement was made.
