The place sits close to train stations, yet there was no Wi‑Fi and it didn’t feel worth the price.

I booked a double room with a single bed and a private bathroom. Three days before arrival the owner called to tell me that my room was already booked for one of the two days and that I should cancel the reservation at no cost (I had booked without a free cancellation). I agreed to switch to a room with two beds, and at no point did the owner mention that the bathroom was shared. When we arrived, an employee handed us the keys and we discovered there was no private bathroom; we couldn’t find the owner, so I called him and he said I had accepted the change, but I insisted the bathroom wasn’t private. The next day, while I was out, he texted that he needed my room and would move the originally booked room back, but I refused to let him touch our luggage because he hadn’t given me enough notice even though I had asked.

The only positive was its location—just a short walk from the station.

Only the proximity to the station mattered. I’d been traveling around Italy for more than two weeks, staying in various cities, yet this was the first place with such awful conditions. My original booking was cancelled a few days before the trip, so I had to scramble for a new spot; this apartment was the only one left at a reasonable price. First, the area is full of migrants. Second, finding a place is hard. The owners never sent any information beforehand (in other places they always know where you are). I wasn’t sure until the last minute if they would accept me. I texted in the morning asking if I could leave my luggage, but my message was ignored. The owner only reached out half an hour before check‑in. Initially it didn’t seem so bad, but then… Third, there is a kitchen, but it’s just a room; you can’t use it because there’s no cutlery, all the plates are sticky, and the pans are old and unusable. There’s not even a microwave. I bought food, but there was nowhere to heat it or utensils to eat with. The kitchen is a disgrace! Fourth, the bathroom is awful and smelly. On the first night I showered, someone left a shampoo bottle there, and the next day it was still there, meaning they don’t clean the communal shower daily. The room has extremely uncomfortable, high pillows; I don’t know who they’re for. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had; even the famously bizarre Chungking Mansions in Hong Kong was better. Avoid this place.
