The building’s design was extraordinary, with high ceilings, old wooden beams and a chandelier. The rooms were spacious. In the hallway there was a wardrobe with extra sheets, towels, tea, periodicals, etc. Overall the concept was very well thought out. The staff were very attentive. Breakfast was extraordinary. Parking at the hotel wasn’t available, but long‑term parking was only 3 minutes away. Because the hotel is a partner of “Dartmoor Partner”, which offers hiking routes and restaurant excursions, we could access that information for free. The Wi‑LAN was mediocre.

“We would definitely stay again but would book a quieter and super king bedroom next time.”

The breakfast was very tasty, with all the ingredients top quality and well‑seasoned, and the cooked vegetables were a welcome addition compared to a more typical egg and bacon. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pub interior was pleasant and had good outdoor spaces too. It’s in a very convenient location, easy to get to by car (24‑hour parking only 2 minutes walk away) and very near the castle, shops and other pubs, cafés and restaurants. We were in bedroom 9, which is a standard king double, and while smaller than some other rooms, it was still generally clean and pleasant with a good bathroom and comfortable bed. We like to have the window open in warm weather (rather than use the fan) but there were some noisy units outside, so we didn’t sleep well. The pub was full so we couldn’t change rooms, but our issue was acknowledged and we were compensated accordingly. That is good customer service in our books.

Everything was fine. The only issue was that it was substantially more expensive than booking directly, so we’ll book directly next time.

Beautiful decor with high‑quality bed linens and a very comfortable bed. The shower was fantastic. Excellent options for breakfast and dinner. Focus on sustainability and organic produce. I would definitely recommend and stay again. Both bedroom windows had no view; one looked directly onto another room’s patio and the other a brick wall! Considering the cost of the room, this was unexpected and disappointing. While the focus on sustainability and no waste is applauded, it was annoying and inconvenient to go to the bar downstairs for milk, perhaps a mini‑fridge in the corridor for guests to share would be a better idea. Finally, while most of the staff were welcoming and friendly, unfortunately, a few were less so, especially at breakfast.

All the staff were so lovely, the food was incredible and the drinks as well. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and everything had been given little extra touches to make the hotel that bit more homely and comfortable. We love the Bull's sustainable ethos as well. Will definitely come back!. We thought the price for our room was a bit high - but it did include a yummy breakfast!
