The family that ran the place were incredibly friendly, and we dined at their home for both dinner and breakfast, all dishes homemade. I loved their warmth, especially when the owner’s brother took us on a desert safari and invited us for tea in his Bedouin tent. The tents were in a quiet spot with only a few units, each offering a beautiful view, and in the mornings we saw many camels—like a dream at sunrise. I didn’t like that we were there in January; afternoons were really cold, so they only turned on the AC and hot water after 22:00, meaning we had to drink tea by the fire until then. They turned the AC off at 01:00, leaving the room extremely cold in the morning. We woke up early to catch the sunrise, but if you wake around 9:00 the sun is up and the tent warms up quickly. I also disliked the location: it’s not inside Wadi Rum proper, but near a village where you can see its lights. Being inside Wadi Rum with total darkness to watch the stars would have been nicer.
