The room was beautiful and the view amazing, though finding a spot in the carpark was a bit tricky.

The staff were friendly and the hotel’s history was engaging, yet leaving was a hassle.

The property matched what one would expect from its age; the staff couldn’t do enough for us, yet it offered great value for money. Breakfast was superb, and in an era where hotels are judged on small details, mine was toilet roll. The Crown passed with flying colours, and you’ll be surprised how many 4‑ and 5‑star hotels let themselves down with this. The only drawback was the water pressure in the shower; I understand the shortages, but a bit more pressure would have saved time and water.

Excellent location to explore Wells, Lovely old inn with lots of traditional features. Comfortable rooms with 4 poster beds. Good menu and food. Very nice breakfast with attentive and pleasant staff. Not much apart form the very restricted parking
