The hotel sits between Kyoto’s Shichijo and Gojo bridges, so getting to various sights was easy. The beds were plenty and the room was large enough for a family of five. The building is a renovated wooden longhouse, so footsteps and voices echo; we had to be very careful because we were traveling with a child.

The price was excellent for the quality of the room. At 76 years old, it was too hard to do the check‑in online or receive an email for instructions, and we were lucky to have two young men show up when we were trying to figure it all out. The lag time between sending a message and getting a reply was too long for someone traveling abroad. Everything eventually worked out, but I would not have booked this place if I had known there wouldn’t be anyone at a check‑in desk.

A lovely, clean, and spacious place that is perfect for families. The beds on the floor were surprisingly comfortable, and the location is excellent, situated in a very quiet and traditional neighborhood.
