“A clean, comfortable and welcoming hotel with good facilities in an excellent location”
The Elopura is a clean and comfortable hotel in an excellent location in Sandakan, which itself is an interesting city and good to visit. The hotel is on the waterfront, with plenty of al fresco dining options nearby. The breakfast is excellent. There is a large modern mall across the square. The rest of downtown is within walking distance, including sites such as Agnes Keith’s house and the (very good) English Teahouse up on the hill. Hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. It is worth opting for an ocean-view room, there is a lot of activity in the harbour. Like many (most?) hotels of this standard, the bathroom fittings are in dire need of maintenance. The towel rail was loose and drooping, the toilet seat very loose, the basin spout was very loose
