Located on vibrant Ocean Drive in Miami Beach's Art Deco District, the Beacon South Beach Hotel features a restaurant on site, serving Mediterranean cuisine with patio and indoor seating. Brightly colored rooms include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen cable TVs, iPod docks, and small refrigerators. Lummus Beach is across the street, with beach towels and chairs provided.

The location and building design were a plus. The hotel looked shabby; the carpets throughout were old, stretched, and seemed unclean. Our bathroom in room 507 lacked hot water. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was no wardrobe, only a tiny short rail for clothes, and no mirror except a small round one in the bathroom.

I was pleased with how close the place was to the beach and how tidy everything was, but the AC was blasting at full blast both when it was hot outside and right after I came back from the sand.

We liked the location, the staff, the bed (maravilhosa, muito limpa e não da dor nas costas), the 15 % discount at the restaurant and the food was very good, the restaurant itself was excellent, the free bike tour, and the free beach chairs too! The room was a bit small, and if I owned the place I would focus on the little construction details, small renovations like the bathroom, floor grout, a good floor, good paint, and a cleaner décor would raise the value.
