Locomotive Hostel

The place is in a good spot. It felt more like an apartment than a proper hostel. There was no front desk, and when I arrived, nobody was there to let me in. I called the property and was told I might have to wait outside for up to 30 minutes for someone to open the door. That made me wonder what would happen every time I left and needed to re‑enter. The building looked very old and uncomfortable. Overall, I didn’t feel safe staying here and decided to leave. I would not recommend this place.

The location is great, right next to the metro. The staff were unwelcoming and the bathroom sink had poor drainage.

The place is in a great spot, near all the sights, shops, and the main bus and train stations, and it felt safe because we had our own key. The room was just right for us, with a comfy bed and it was pretty clean. The host was understanding and communication was easy, and for the price it’s a decent spot to stay. The photos don’t match the reality – it looked a bit underwhelming in person. The area is very traffic‑heavy, so even at night there were a lot of noises. The room itself was clean, but the shared spaces could use a touch‑up. I also didn’t like the decor; I was traveling with someone who’s scared of mannequins, and there was one in the hallway that kept spooking them.

The hotel is close to Keleti station and the main attractions in Pest, so getting around is easy. I stayed in a 6‑bedroom suite, but everyone was quiet and I slept like a log. The front desk guy was friendly and helpful. Inside the room the toilet and shower can be locked from the inside, and there’s good quality toilet paper, liquid soap, and a towel. The window opens onto a courtyard, and even though we left it open all night, there was no noise and other guests were also quiet.
