We had a superb stay in the Pistache room on the top floor, where the spacious room featured ancient curved beams, a vaulted roof, and a big bathtub for soaking after a day in Brugge; the soft bath towels and quality toiletries were a real treat, and we didn’t want to leave.

The breakfast was excellent and served across the street at the hotel, but the skylight in the room wouldn’t open.

The spot is perfect—everything you want to see is a stroll away, but the breakfast is at a different hotel, which is a bit of a hassle. The daily housekeeping is good, yet we never met the host during our two‑day stay. The historic house is charming, but the rooms are hard to get into; even my 10k training routine and my hefty five‑year‑old Golden Retriever struggled. The old floorboards creak like a flamenco dancer at night. The recent renovation feels dated in places, yet complimentary toiletries and bottled water are still provided. We booked rooms Pistache and Berry: Pistache only had a bathtub, no shower, and the tub was a nightmare—its plastic shower cord twisted at both the faucet and handheld, making rinsing difficult, and the tub took a full 30 minutes to drain, which was exhausting for the two of us.
