“Bizarre location on top of a public toilet block!! Infested with ants.”
The staff were friendly, but they seemed to be mainly petrol‑station workers. They were following their boss’s instructions, so they couldn’t be as helpful as they wanted to be. Google Maps shows the location behind a petrol station, but it wasn’t clear that the rooms sit on top of a high‑traffic toilet block: the ground floor has public toilets, the upper floor has the rooms, and there’s nothing else in the building. A strong deodoriser was required to mask the smell. When I requested a refund, the petrol‑station staff had to ask their boss, who outright refused. I stayed anyway because it was late, raining heavily, and the nearest alternative accommodation was over 20 km away. Once inside, I found many ants—most were dead, indicating that the problem was known and that strong insect‑killing chemicals were used, but guests weren’t informed. It was easier for me to clean them up myself than to contact the petrol‑station staff, who seemed to be in charge of the place. A kettle was supplied, but it was on the floor (there was no table or bench in the room) and there were dead ants inside.
