Star Gate Motel

“Clean, efficient and convenient.”

It was close to the highway, about a mile or two away, and very reasonably priced. The property and room were clean and convenient for my trip, and it was right across the street from Michael’s steakhouse. The rooms were small and dated, but that was what I expected given the price and location, so no surprise.

The location is good, 2 restaurants across the street. Instant coffee in the room is so old it wouldn't dissolve

Excellent location. The deluxe room featured a fold‑out lounge that was perfect for keeping the grumpy teens apart. The room was clean, cozy, and smelled nice. A full‑length mirror in the foyer with outlets was very handy for getting ready.

“Great spot for a stay in the area. Clean and comfortable. It can be quite noisy depending on your neighbors.”

Nice location, across the street from the best restaurant in town – Michael’s – and close to others. The room was clean and had everything needed for a short stay. I would have given a higher rating, but the soundproofing was nonexistent: a neighbor watched a movie until 2:15 am, and a group of boaters arrived after 10:00 pm and were extremely loud outside our room until after 11:00 pm. The staff were responsive, trying to reduce the noise and encourage respect for other guests.

“Reading the online reviews, we expected more for the money we spent.”

The owner was friendly and knew a lot about the neighborhood, welcoming us right away. Towels, linens and soaps were plentiful and clean, and the central air kept the room pleasantly cool. The restaurant just across the street served decent food. However, the motel feels old even though it’s been freshly painted. There was no chair for us to relax after traveling, so we had to use a bench outside. The bed was too soft, and overall the cost felt high for what we received.
